An “active to extremely active” hurricane season is expected for the Atlantic Basin this year according to the seasonal outlook issued today by NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center – a division of the National Weather Service. As with every hurricane season, this outlook underscores the importance of having a hurricane preparedness plan in place.

Across the entire Atlantic Basin for the six-month season, which began June 1, NOAA is projecting a 70 percent probability of the following ranges:

  • 14 to 23 Named Storms (top winds of 39 mph or higher), including:
  • 8 to 14 Hurricanes (top winds of 74 mph or higher), of which:
  • 3 to 7 could be Major Hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5; winds of at least 111 mph)

“If this outlook holds true, this season could be one of the more active on record,” said Jane Lubchenco, Ph.D., under secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator. “The greater likelihood of storms brings an increased risk of a landfall. In short, we urge everyone to be prepared.”
More information on individual and family preparedness can be found at www.Ready.gov and www.hurricanes.gov/prepare.

Serving Our Neighbors
Compassion Corner is a relational and service referral ministry to Orlando’s homeless residents. Trinity is blessed with the opportunity to support the mission of Compassion Corner.  Every member is pressed to search for a way the Gifts of the Holy Spirit can be used to give as anyone has need (Acts 2:45).  There are a number of ways to serve: through donations of toiletries, coffee supplies, socks, bus passes, paperback books, Bibles, computer paper; donating some time for hosting the hours of 8:30-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  No experience or special skills are needed, other than a heart for the hurting. Compassion Corner is located at 425 N. Magnolia Ave. next to the Ministry Center of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and directly across the street from the backside of the main courthouse. Please contact Compassion Corner at 407-488-1919 x128, and leave a message.

Who are You?
I’m not referring to the song by “The Who” (rejuvenated by T.V.’s CSI show). Neither am I introducing yet another version of “Alice In Wonderland” (caterpillar on the mushroom).  No, this is a question you and every citizen in the United States must prove due to the Federal REAL ID Act.  Florida is one of the 19 states currently in compliance with the strict Federal regulations. You may not be aware of this law if you have a current Florida identification card or a driver’s license. (READ MORE)

What is your plan to provide for your family's future and ministries you care about?

"For I know the plans for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Planning for your family and gifts to ministry takes time and dedication. The LCMS Foundation can help you by creating a Lifetime Plan for Giving. Your local gift planning counselor can develop a plan that assures you'll provide for your family and support the ministries that are important to you.

Your counselor can meet with you and provide charitable expertise and tax-advantaged strategies to plan and direct your passion for giving. For more than 50 years, The LCMS Foundation has helped Christians discover the joy of giving to family and all ministries of the church.

God knows His plans. We can help with yours.

Gift Giving
The Trinity PTL is offering just what you need to help complete your Christmas shopping:  gift cards (a/k/a scrip)!  You can purchase gift cards to use at your favorite stores to buy gifts or use the cards themselves as gifts.  Please use the attached order form to place your order for gift cards from any of the many stores listed.  The PTL buys the cards at a discounted rate and makes a small profit on each card you purchase even though you are paying face value – it is a “win win” situation!  Please submit your order form by December 5 so we can place one large order.  Contact Colette Reid if you have any questions. QUALITY, AFFORDABLE EDUCATION
Re-enrollment continues for current TLS families and enrollment for new families began February 2. We ask that all consider applying for Tuition Assistance through FACTS. It is a convenient way of gathering all the information we need to make a final decision on whether we can provide Tuition Assistance to your family. Our goal is to provide a quality, affordable education to the children of our community. For more information contact Admissions or 407 843 4896.

COFFEE
What are those people doing out there?

Every Wednesday morning, a small group of people stand around a table and pace the sidewalks at the intersection of Rosalind/Magnolia and Livingston.  These suspicious characters are waving and smiling.  They carry trays with cups and signs that claim free coffee.  Nothing is free, so what are they really doing?   “Yes, Virginia,” the coffee is really free.  The members of the Trinity Coffee Team freely give the community of Orlando 3 hours every Wednesday. We share with you the free gift of forgiveness, mercy, and love from God that is for all people through His Son, Jesus Christ, by this simple act. No catch. No strings.  Free coffee, free smiles, free prayers for a blessed day.

While the greatest reward is to hear someone say, "No thank you, I don't drink coffee, but I appreciate what you are doing", we find during the four to six weeks in June and July when the weather is excessively warm, most people say "No thank you."  So the coffee ministry team takes a short break!

Prayer is a privilege and
a command

Prayer is speaking to God in words and thoughts. We are invited to ask for anything that addresses the spiritual and bodily welfare of others and ourselves and gives glory to God.  All school year long, Trinity mom pray for our children in the name of Jesus, because He promised we receive whatever we ask for in prayer. The school year may have ended, but the prayers should not.  Most of Trinity’s moms were unable to gather in the church sanctuary this past school year, but that did not stop them from spending a designated time praying regularly for their children and all the children in Trinity and other schools.  Please join the Moms In Touch who faithfully devote 30-50 minutes each week praying for children who are being tempted and taunted to leave their Christian faith; children struggling to see a purpose for their life; children swept up in the sensuality and violence of the culture; children tempted to drink, take drugs, have eating disorders, dabble in witchcraft and the occult; there are children who struggle to find their worth in Christ. “Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18.
